Where did I intern and why?

While most of my colleagues and friends were looking for internship opportunities around various places in Oklahoma and beyond, I greatly valued the wonderful opportunity that the Family Resource Center provides right here on campus where I could serve my local community and fellow residents. I saw this also as an opportunity to thank the FRC and FGSH facilities for their meticulous efforts to provide comfortable housing for the residents and also not just keep them engaged but also providing great resources to learn.

As an international student, I personally know how tough it can be in a foreign land and so through this internship opportunity, I was able to understand the cultural differences and difficulties residents face much better. As a Global Studies scholar, this was a great opportunity for me to face real-world issues and bring a solution to address the needs and gaps among residents.

2020 | FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER
           ONLINE EVENTS SURVEY

When COVID-19 hit, the Family Resource Center was forced to move all of its programs online. So, in order to make sure that the objective of the programs is met, a survey was conducted at the end of all the programs. As an intern, I analyzed the data and put together a report compiling them to measure our program's success.

Due to COVID-19, there were many financial and other resource needs for many people around the world. To better serve the community, a survey was done on the needs that the residents have. I analyzed and compiled the survey results into a report.

After gaining experience in conducting events from kids to adults, we conducted an online engagement seminar for two days to share the lessons that we learned. I was the technical support for zoom. I also compiled the discussions and information shared in the seminar into a document which can be seen here!

           PROGRAMMING WEBINAR

As FRC handles many kids' programs, we shared the lessons we learned in engaging the kids online in this seminar. We also discussed various ideas and precautions to handle sessions safely and effectively. I served as the technical support for zoom during this event. I also compiled the seminar notes into a document to be shared with everyone.
